Financial Aid Outreach Efforts Expand
Financial aid outreach continues to be a focus for the 55 by ’25 campaign. October 1st marked the start of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) season for the 2017-18 school year.
Counselors have been busy, not only helping students complete their college applications, but also assisting them simultaneously with their FAFSA applications. In order to support counselors in their outreach efforts, a financial aid toolkit was developed by Hawai‘i P-20 that included resources and tip sheets to better support students and families in completing the FAFSA. In addition, seven schools are participating in the Cash for College 808 FAFSA Challenge with prizes going to schools with the most improved and closest to 100% school wide submission rates. As of November 5th, the HIDOE statewide FAFSA submission rate is 23% of high school seniors. To see school specific FAFSA data, click here.
